The First Nordic Summer School in Geographic Information Science
He is Science Foundation Ireland Research Professor and Director of the National Centre for Geocomputation at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth.  He has previously held positions at the University of Newcastle , the National Center for Geographic Information and Analysis in the US and in the Departments of Geography at the State University of New York at Buffalo , the University of Florida and Indiana University .  He obtained his PhD and MA degrees in Geography at McMaster University in Canada and his BSc in Geography at Aberdeen University in Scotland . Professor Fotheringham’s research interests include the mathematical modelling of spatial choice, spatial cognition, the integration of spatial analysis and GIS, spatial statistics, exploratory spatial data analysis, retailing and migration.  He has published eight books and over 100 articles.  He is an editor of Transactions in GIS.  He has recently been offered a Fellowship at the Center for Advanced Studies in Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University .
