4th Nordic Summer School
                      in Geographic Information Science
       3 - 7 August 2009, Gävle, Sweden
(in conjunction with the 3rd ICA workshop)

The Nordic Summer School is a major activity organised by the NordGISci network. It is intended to provide a series of advanced workshops for young researchers. By young researchers we mean PhD students, licentiate students, and fresh postdoctoral researchers (PhD within 3 years). The workshops will be instructed by some leading researchers in the emerging field of Geographic Information Science. Young researchers from Nordic and Baltic countries, as well as from North Western Russia, are eligible, and therefore encouraged to apply for admission to the school. For those selected, we will provide full financial support including travel, accommodation and course materials.

This year's summer school (NordGISci'09) will take place in conjunction with the 3rd ICA workshop on geospatial analysis and modeling. The first three days will be instructed workshops led by four leading researchers. For the rest one and a half days, the summer school participants will join the ICA workshop. As the summer school tradition, we are going to organize a panel discussion about paper writing and publishing. The invited instructors are Jean-Claude Thill, Gennady Andrienko, Vasily V. Popovich, and Terje MidtbØ.

To participate in the event, please send in your Application Form, and submit an abstract (about 300 words) about your current research. The submission should include title, name, affiliation, and abstract. Should you need to declare your travel expense, please download the Travel Expense Claim Form.
