Spatio-Temporal Statistics of Geographical Systems 

The last few years have witnessed tremendous activity devoted to the understanding of geographical systems. Prior to the theoretical modeling and practical application, a fundamental task is to uncover the statistical regularities related to geographical systems, especially the ones relevant to human activities. Such an interdisciplinary study attracts increasing attention not only from geographers, but also physicists and computer scientists.

The workshop will consist of several lectures by active experts in disparate yet relevant fields, as well as a probable round-table discussion on promising future researches and data-sharing framework. Topics covered in the workshop include: (i) Structure, function and evolution of geographical networks; (ii) Spatio-temporal statistics and modeling of human mobility patterns; (iii) Emergent structure and function of urban transportation systems.
