Following the success of two previous workshops, we are proud to announce that the Third International Cartographic Association (ICA) Workshop on Geospatial Analysis and Modeling will be held on August 6-7, 2009 in Gävle, Sweden. Founded upon the tradition of the workshop series, we aim at bringing together researchers from relevant fields to address issues related to geospatial analysis and modeling.
We call for papers that (1) develop visual and analytical tools for geospatial analysis and modeling, and (2) extract geospatial knowledge by applying these tools to huge arrays of geospatial data that have recently become available. The tools and the knowledge constitute two major concerns in our pursuit for better spatial planning and decision making. Relevant topics include, but are not limited to:
Cellular automata and agent-based modeling
Visual analytical tools for environmental and urban systems
Analysis of human movement data
Spatio-temporal data mining
Hierarchies, scaling and fractal structure of geographic patterns
Modeling vehicle dynamics and crowd behavior
Patterns of human spatial behavior and migration
Urban high-resolution morphology
Small-world modeling and spatial interactions
All manuscripts entailing 5000-6000 words should be in English, single column, single-spaced with figures and tables within the text. The manuscripts in MS Word 2003 format should contain authors' affiliation and email, abstract (no longer than 300 words), and up to five keywords.
